Volunteer Communication 1 2013

Date: Monday May 6th, 2013
Subject: Superior Spring Trail Race Volunteer Email 1 2013
Hello All,
First off I want to thank you for volunteering for this years Superior “Spring” Trail Race 25KM and 50KM.  You are about to be part of a crazy, fun and rewarding event – welcome to the team! You are receiving this email because you have signed up to volunteer for this years race or are a multi-year / returning volunteer.  The list of volunteers currently signed up can be found HERE https://www.superiorspringtrailrace.com/volunteer-assignments/

This years race is shaping up to be a good one.  The field limit of 500 runners was met over two months ago and we have runners coming from 13 States and 3 Canadian provinces.  For the first time in its history the Superior 50KM is hosting the USATF-MN championship race, so we are excited about that.  While the unusually heavy / late snow-pack, mud and water may provide a few challenges this year, we expect nothing too out of the ordinary.

I just wanted to drop you all a line and let you know that I am waiting for a few volunteers to register yet, then expect to make volunteer assignments by the end of the week which will be available HERE https://www.superiorspringtrailrace.com/volunteer-assignments/.  Once they are done, I will send another email to let you know as much and provide some last minute updates including the townhome room #s for those of you that need a place to stay. For those of you needing a place to stay, we have a couple of volunteer townhomes available for you to use, please be sure to bring a sleeping bag and pad in case all the rooms / beds are taken as sometimes is the case.  Keep in mind these are communal arrangements so you need to be comfortable with that otherwise you may want to find another place to stay.  Feel free to bring food and drink to share or bring items for yourself and label them as such.

Many of you already know where you will be and what you will be doing especially the significant number of you who are return / multi-year volunteers – for the rest of you, you will most likely be at an aid station (either Sawbill or Oberg) or at a road crossing at one of these aid stations or you will be helping at the finish line.  More info about all the volunteer jobs can be found HERE https://www.superiorspringtrailrace.com/volunteer-jobs/ – generally, as a volunteer you should also review rest of the race http://spring.superiortrailrace.com website so you are as familiar with the event as possible.

Keep your eyes peeled for another email from me by the end of the week or over the weekend.  We are looking forward to another great year at the Superior “Spring” Trail Races, please let us know if you have any questions!

Thank You,

John Storkamp
