Subject: Superior Spring Trail Race Volunteer Communication 1 2017

Hello All!

You are receiving this email because you have been a huge part of the Superior “Spring” Trail Race in the past and we want you back! (if you have already signed up to volunteer this year you are receiving this email as well – thank you for signing up early!) We are just under three months away from this years race and we are getting excited! If you can’t make it back to volunteer this year we hope it is because you are running or spectating or just coming up to hang out to have good time – we all make this event what it is and we want you to be a part of it one way or another! This years race will be held on Saturday May 20th, 2017.

One of the main reasons the Superior Spring Trail Race has been such a successful event is because of volunteer consistency and continuity – if you are interested in volunteering in 2017, it probably makes a lot of sense to put you in the same position as last year since you are all now “masters of your craft” – just put a note in reminding us where you helped last year! As always, it really helps us to stay organized and on top of things if you can go to the Superior “Spring” Trail Race website and sign up to volunteer HERE https://www.superiorspringtrailrace.com/volunteer-signup/ – providing any useful information that will help us in assigning you to your volunteer position – i.e. days and times available, what position you worked last year, other preferences etc. – also, for you Twin Cities folks, if you can help with equipment cleanup and storage on Monday May 22nd in Hastings, please let us know!

We will gather volunteer information over the coming weeks, then when we have just about everyone committed we will start making volunteer assignments – look for further communication in about two months or so. As always, should you have any questions, please feel free to contact me – we are looking forward to seeing everyone in May!

Thank You – we couldn’t do it without you!

The North Shore of Lake Superior runs from Duluth, Minnesota at the Southwestern end of the lake, to Thunder Bay and Nipigon, Ontario, Canada, in the North to Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, in the east. The shore is characterized by alternating rocky cliffs and cobblestone beaches, with rolling hills and ridges covered in boreal forest inland from the lake, through which scenic rivers and waterfalls descend as they flow to Lake Superior. The shoreline between the city of Duluth to the international border at Grand Portage as the North Shore.  Lake Superior is considered the largest freshwater lake in the world by surface area. It is the world’s third-largest freshwater lake by volume and the largest by volume in North America.  The Superior Hiking Trail, also known as the SHT, is a 310-mile long distance hiking single-track hiking trail in Northeastern Minnesota that follows the ridgeline overlooking Lake Superior for most of its length. The trail travels through forests of birch, aspen, pine, fir, and cedar. Hikers and runners enjoy views of boreal forests, the Sawtooth Mountains, babbling brooks, rushing waterfalls, and abundant wildlife.
